The second edition of the Blue Economy Investment and Innovation Summit concluded yesterday at Sote Hub, Nyali, amidst the backdrop of heavy rain in Mombasa.
The main summit, a flagship event within the week-long series, was opened by the Slovak Ambassador to Kenya, Katarína Leligdonova, signifying international participation and support for the blue economy’s growth and innovation in Kenya.
The day featured insightful speeches from prominent figures and a pivotal panel discussion that delved deep into the intricacies of the blue economy.
The panel discussion, a key highlight of the day, covered various aspects, including skills development, investment opportunities, digitization, and government involvement in the blue economy.
Community Joins Forces to Combat Ecological Impact of Mkupe Bridge Construction

Mombasa: 24/09/2023: In a collaborative effort to address the ecological challenges posed by the construction of the Mkupe bridge in Mombasa County, several organizations came together on Saturday for a mangrove conservation project in the Mkupe area.
Blue Radio, in partnership with Ken Gen, Bike is Best, Logos Hope, and Oshwal Academy, joined forces with local villagers and the Mombasa County government to plant more than 4,400 mangrove trees.
Haki Africa Raises Concerns on Peace and Security Amid Economic Struggles

Mombasa County, 21/09/2023 — Haki Africa on Thursday voiced its profound disappointment with the National Government’s response to peace and security issues in the country.
In a press briefing held at their premises in Mombasa the Human Rights organization drew attention to a number of security concerns which they believe the government has turned their focus away from.
Yusuf Abubakar, Director of Haki Africa, highlighted the prevalence of terrorism in the Lamu and Tana River regions and underscored the role of skyrocketing living costs and youth unemployment in exacerbating insecurity.
Kenyan Common Mwananchi Struggles After Fuel Price Hike
The recent decision by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) to hike fuel prices in Kenya has sent shockwaves through the lives of ordinary Kenyan citizens. Just three days after the announcement, the ripple effects of this increase are being felt far and wide.
In the latest round of fuel price adjustments, EPRA raised the cost of petroleum, diesel, and kerosene by 16.96, 21.3, and 33.13 Kenyan shillings per litre, respectively. These substantial price hikes have left many Kenyan households grappling with an economic headache.
