Haki Africa Raises Concerns on Peace and Security Amid Economic Struggles

Mombasa County, 21/09/2023 — Haki Africa on Thursday voiced its profound disappointment with the National Government’s response to peace and security issues in the country.
In a press briefing held at their premises in Mombasa the Human Rights organization drew attention to a number of security concerns which they believe the government has turned their focus away from.
Yusuf Abubakar, Director of Haki Africa, highlighted the prevalence of terrorism in the Lamu and Tana River regions and underscored the role of skyrocketing living costs and youth unemployment in exacerbating insecurity.
NPS introduces breathalyser test on the Nairobi expressway
The National Police Service (NPS) has introduced the breathalyser test on the Nairobi Expressway to reduce drunk driving and improve safety of road users.
The move, together with the addition of traffic officers, is part of the implementation of traffic safety measures on the busy road by the NPS.
