The government has pledged to capitalize on the untapped potential of its blue economy sector by transforming the Bandari Maritime Academy in Mombasa.
The Principal Secretary State Department for Shipping and Maritime Affairs, Shadrack Mwadime, made the commitment on Thursday during the launch of a strategic plan for the academy.
“Ocean conservation is important for me because as you clean it, other people find it clean and keep it clean as well. It is my first time participating in a beach clean-up, it is fun and I would recommend it to my friends”, said Baraka Mjomba, a scout from PCEA Makupa Academy partaking in the beach-clean up.
Nyali Member of Parliament Mohammed Ali has issued term-one bursaries to students in eight public secondary schools in Nyali, Mombasa County.
Speaking during the bursaries disbursement event at Khadija Primary School, the MP expressed his commitment to supporting the education sector in Nyali sub-county.
The lawmaker promised to build a TVET institution in a bid to ensure that every child transitions to higher learning after completing secondary education.

President William Ruto on Wednesday launched the eagerly awaited Hustler Fund at Green Park Terminus in Nairobi.
Speaking during the launch, the president said the fund would be vital in unlocking economic equality in the country.
