Runners, walkers and fitness enthusiasts from all over the country are set to converge in Mombasa for an inaugural city-wide event called “Mombasa Run.” The event is set to take place over the November 20th and 21 weekend, along select running routes within the city and its environs.

The event is the brainchild of marketing agency, Action Marketing Plus, and it seeks to highlight the beauty of Mombasa as well as helping runners discover new routes to run. It also serves as a networking platform where runners from all over the country will be able to interact with one another.

Key figures in the running community shall grace the event, highlighted by Mombasa born Legendary runner Douglas Wakiihuri.

Following the success of the Nairobi Run, the event presents an opportunity to promote Mombasa as a tourist destination. The Governor’s office as well as the Tourism Ministry have shown support for the event by providing the necessary logistical assistance necessary for the success of the event.

In a press release sent to Gilitics Media, Action Marketing Plus CEO, Younes Iraki, explained that Mombasa run is “neither a competition nor a race” rather it is simply an event targeted at “rediscovering, building and celebrating our Mombasa.”

The running routes that shall be featured in the event include, Nyali Beach, Mama Ngina Waterfront, Greenwood Drive, Pirates Beach, downtown, among others pristine locations in the coastal city.

At a registration cost of Sh.2000, participants shall receive a branded Mombasa Run T-shirt. Upon completion of the exercise, they will also receive an e-certificate. A medal will be given to the participants upon, submission of their running stats and their photos to the officials.
